Wine Storage

| Nov 11, 2003

Where do you store you wine? If you live in a chateau, I’m sure you have a beautiful wine celar :-), but if you live in an apartment or in a house with an average temperature of 21 C (70 F) and your wines are stored with your shoes in a closit somewhere, this isn’t good news for the health of your wine.

If you leave a bottle of wine in that 21 C temperature, as apposed toA in a 12 C (55 F) room, you are actually cooking the wine :-), or as the experts would say “prematurely aging the wine twice as quickly”.

Like a good cigar, wines should also be kept in places with higher humidity. When all else fails, put your wines in the refrigirator — both white and reds — rather than risk storing them in warm conditions.

Enjoy!
