In these enormously competitive markets and rapidly changing times, the way you think about your work life must shift. Think of yourself as a consultant providing services to your company. Your boss now becomes your client. The more value you add, the more likey you are to keep your client; but, through no fault of your own, things could change. If they do, you move on and find new clients.

Always polish your skills, stay current, look around and keep your options open.
