Mid-career Crisis

| Sep 24, 2007

If you’ve come to absolutely dread Monday mornings, you may be having a mid-career crisis :-).

Like the mid-life crisis, the mid-career crisis comes from being unfulfilled and unhappy in your situation, and it’s more common than you’d think. Excessive work and not enough pay are root causes. For some the problems are lack of motivation and challenge.

IMO, whatever the cause, the only way to survive it is to make some fundamental changes. So, if you find yourself in a mid-career crisis, see it as an opportunity to make a change in your life that is more in line with who you really are. Take a good look at what it is you need from work, and go out and find that.

When you are in a job that is fulfilling and satisfying, your quality of life will improve dramatically. You still may not like Monday mornings, but at least you’ll be free of the constant feeling that you are in the wrong job!
