Jug Wine

| Jan 1, 2007

The phrase “jug wine” refers to simple, uncomplicated, everyday drinking wine. You’re probably familiar with these types wines: They’re usually labelled with a ageneric name, such as “Chablis” or “Burgundy”.

Inexpensive and well made, these wines were originally bottled in jugs, hence the name “jug wine”. They are very popular and account for the largest volume of California wine sold in the US.

However, dude, for God’s sake, if you opened a jug couple of weeks ago, drank a glass or two, and kept the rest in your kitchen, don’t offer me a glass. Only if you could comprehend what that crap tastes like. Sorry, thanks, but no thanks!
