Individualization

| Apr 12, 2007

There are many things you can do to avoid failing as a manager. You can set clear expectations. You can highlight the purposes of work. You can correct people when they are wrong. You can praise people when they do something right. If you do all of these things, and do them well, you will not fail as a manager.

However, neither will you succeed. :-)

To excel as a manager, to turn your people’s talents into productive and powerful strengths, requires one more important ingredient. It is individualization. Each person needs to be managed differently, based on their talents and strengths.

So let it be written, so let it be done.
