Green Stripe

| Dec 22, 2005

Tonight we tested for our green stripes.

This time the grading wasA less stressful than the previous gradings since I knew what to expect. I think I did well in my patterns andA one-step sparring. My son is doing much better than I am. He was very confident and extremely crisp in his movements. I am so proud of the little guy.

Although I am now really enjoying taekwondo, my sonA isA less enthusiastic than I am. I am taken with all the theory and philosophy and I am also very happy with the all around physical fitness whereas he thinks this is all a game. He knows his patterns and has become quite flexible,A but I think he’d prefer to play with his playstation instead of being here with me.

Oh, and apart from doing all the moves, and the patterns, I also had to spar with a real opponent in front of the honoured guests, and a large audience. A bit nerve-wrecking, but I survived.

So far so good. I am now a green belt. A senior yellow belt shall we say.
