Engage!

When a group of intelligent people come together in a meeting room to talk about a subject, it’s natural and productive for disagreements to occur. Resolving these issues is what matters and makes that meeting productive, engaging, and sometimes even fun.

Avoiding the issues that merit debate makes the meeting boring, and guarantees the issue won’t be resolved. It will bring about frustration and this frustration will later on manifest itself in the form of unproductive personal conflict, or office politics.

So dude, if your folks don’t want to engage in discussions, force them to do so even if it’ll make you temporarily unpopular. You will harvest the results later, and possibly even thank me. :-)
