Chateau

| Mar 16, 2007

Ever wondered about the house/castle like pictures on the label of a bottle of wine? If it’s a French wine, according to French law, a chateau is a house attached to a vineyard having a specific number of acres, as well as having winemaking and storage facilities on the property. A wine may not be called a chateau wine unless it meets these criteria. So, if you see a chateau on the label, French law dictates that a chateau really exists. What you see, is what you get. Enjoy.
