Sirenis la Salina

From the time we landed at the airport till we departed to return home we had a wonderful relaxing time and never ran into anyone who was rude or not cheerful and they all tried their best to communicate with us and did a pretty good job. Also, all of the staff at the resort spoke excellent English.

Our bus trip from the airport to the resort was great and we had a guide who joked with us, told us lots of Cuban history and gave suggestions of places to go to and see. (although I am not a newbie to Cuba)

At the hotel we were through the line in no time and on our way to our rooms via a little golf cart. We were set up in the room and on out way to Dinner and Bar :-) within the first hour.

This is a big resort. Lots of people. Are there line ups…of course. When you have two chefs cooking pasta and 500 people wanting pasta what do you think is going to happen. If you don’t want a line up don’t eat what they are cooking. Some of the food is repetative but we did not find much that was not edible. None of us ever went hungry, it may not be what we are used to at home but then again we weren’t home. Also, as I’ve said many times before, you don’t go to Cuba for food, you go there for the weather, the people, the joy, the rum, the music and the beach.

From the first time we sat at a table in the buffet we were greeted by very friendly servers. We always got a smile and an Hola. If we chose to tip they were very grateful. Our last meal at the buffet the servers even came to our table to say good bye , wish us a safe trip and we even got hugs from them.

Our room …awesome. Our room attendant, Sara, awesome, she even spent time washing my wife’s friend’s skirt by hand. . Our room was cleaned everyday, fresh linen, even when we put the do not change card on the bed, our mini fridge restocked everyday, sometimes with extras, and our bathroom always had fresh towel

The resort is big. There is a lot of walking, but we enjoyed the walking especially on the nice warm evenings just for something to do.

The lobby bar was always busy and there was a wait time most times, but again people can only do so much with two hands. There is a cappuccino bar there and they were great, so great there was a line up there too, but well worth the wait. Also really friendly staff.

The entertainment was good but the swim show was the best. Beach disco was excellent too. There is live music in the park every night around 9:00 where we enjoyed learning to dance and doing some dancing.

The Pools were fantastic. Two huge pools, both with swimup bars. The main pool has a cave like waterfall swimup bar, and a big slide for kids.

All in all the family had a wonderful trip, and this is a great place to go to. If you can put up with Cuban food, then the rest is fantastic. Enjoy.
