Avulsion Fracture

| Feb 5, 2006

I never go to Saturday Taekwondo classes, but IA don’t know what came over me and I attended the 12:30 pm class yesterday. Right at the end of the calss, as I was kicking, I heard a loud snap, and then I fell on the floor. Yup, I broke my foot. The fifth metatarsal is broken. The Doctor called it an “avulsion fracture”. It is anA injury to the bone in a place where a tendon or ligament attaches to the bone. When an avulsion fracture occurs, the tendon or ligament pulls off a piece of the bone.

And I am out for 6-8 weeks. First thing I asked the Doctor was when can I kick again. He said hopefully in 3 months. I am not very happy, but hey, life goes on.
